Pronunciation
A pose on one leg, with the non-supporting leg bent. Similar to arabesque only with the knee in the air bent. Croisé and Effacé are the most popular. Several different arms can be used. This famous pose was said to have been inspired by the well known statue of the Greek God Mercury, the one with wings on his ankles.
