Effacé

Shaded. An open pose as opposed to a crossed {croisé} pose. A diagonal position. One of the nine body positions. A pose where the pointed foot is open to its corner while the body faces one of the front corners of the stage. The pointed foot determines front or back. Arm overhead is opposite the pointed foot in front and the same arm overhead as leg in the back. A lovely pose. Effacé front with right foot. Effacé back with right foot. Then with left foot. Effacé front and back.
