A whipping movement. The term is applied to movements of the body and to movements of the legs. Grand Fouetté (grand-fweh-tay) with beats is a bravura step. Large Fouetté: a large grand battement, to the front, with a half turn to arabesque, usually preceded by a connecting step. When done with beats, this is a real thrill to see.
