A connecting step. A step from the national dances of the Basques. It starts in fifth, right foot front, alternating legs move to the side, forward, to fifth. Can be done front {avant} and back {en arriére}, either with a sauté {jump} or glissé {glide}. Can also be done with a Rond de jambe. This is a versatile step and can be done many ways. The pas de basque turn as shown is not done with the brush to the sides on the first count and could be called by another name...but it is a very useful and beautiful step and should be in your repertoire.
