A turning step in the air. A changement {or soubresaut} done with a single, double or triple turn in the air. Both boys and girls do singles. Boys and some girls do doubles, but only boys do triples and only a few even try. Can be done inside and outside but outside is the most popular. Can land in fifth or arabesque but fifth is the most popular. Can also be done consecutively. When this is done, it electrifies the audience. A virtuoso step and well worth the practice it takes. Every boy should be able to do a double in the air. So do your homework and this will be possible. At all ballet auditions, boys must show their double turn in the air.
